Darrell Wilcox was born and raised in the primitive coal camp town of Wyco, West Virginia, also known as “Wyco holler.” Many townsfolk live and die within a mile of the mine that offers their only means to make a living, but Wilcox is determined to escape the wild and unforgiving mountains. His life of adventure takes him from this hardscrabble world to a comfortable home in the middle of sunny California. Along the way, he faces detours into the dark and dangerous mine and service aboard a wartime aircraft carrier. Trade school, marriage, family life and numerous business successes offer readers an example of a man who lives his life with purpose. Darrell Wilcox not only met his youthful goals, he far surpassed them. Annette Savage Williams has worked in the publishing world since 1983 as an editor, writer and author. She operates Williams Savage Books, publisher of “Up in the Holler: Memories of a Coal Camp Kid” and “Breaking the Chains of The Occult and Pharmakeia.”
