Oldies but goldies

Vacuum tubes technology, a must for electronics technicians and engineers only 30 years ago, has limited its action to a few applications. One of them, and for artistical reasons, is audio amplifiers. But the main application nowadays, is RF high power amplifiers. Radio and TV transmitters, for example. One single tube is able to handle the whole power driven by the final stage of the transmitter. That is sometimes an adventage for engineers. But anyway, there still are thousands of transmitters in the world that are using high power tubes. I work on one of them, and this book is the ONLY ONE, and I mean this, that has allowed me to know the deepest secrets of this technology that, of course, was never taught to me this deep in college. By the way, the historical background the author gives us is very amusing. Read the book and you will know why.

PRICELESS BOOK--A CLASSIC IN THE FIELD

Anyone attempting to build a high-power RF amplifier MUST BUY THIS BOOK.
In spite of various nonsense spouted by semiconductor manufacturers and semi-competent engineers, vacuum tubes still are extremely valuable in all high-power RF applications.
Tubes tend to be LESS EXPENSIVE than transistors, more reliable than transistors, and easier to use than transistors--especially at frequencies above 500 MHz and/or power levels above 10 kW.
This book is the best ever written about power tubes and their use. Even if you are interested in audio tubes, there is much to learn from this book.

Absolutely the best I've read so far!

You will find this book is loaded with information on all aspects of power tube technology. Everything from tube design, manufacturing, circuit applications, tuning, performance measurements, cooling, handling etc. is all covered. It is not an inexpensive book, but is worth every penny. I would especially recommend it for anyone involved in maintenance of high power AM/FM broadcast transmitters.

Great text. It got me through my University of Florida International Relations class without a hitch. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in the topic. Very thorough however you can tell it is slightly biased as it is written from a constructivist point of view. That being said, it still does a very good job of of describing different theoretical perspectives.

About the Author

Martin L. A. Sternberg, Ed.D., is a native New Yorker. Deaf since the age of seven, he has spent most of his career working with deaf people. The idea for this book came from Dr. Elizabeth Peet, Dr. Sternberg's sign language teacher at Gallaudet University (for the deaf), in Washington, DC. Dr. Sternberg kept Dr. Peet's ideas and methods, but expanded the work greatly. Early work on the project received a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare to New York University, the sponsoring institution. A graduate of the City College of New York, American University, and New York University, Dr. Sternberg has enjoyed a distinguished career as a teacher at Gallaudet, New York, Hofstra, and Adelphi Universities. HE is currently chairman of the board of trustees of Lexington School for the Deaf and Lexington Center for the Deaf. He is the author of four ASL dictionaries and a Codies Award-winning CD-ROM, all published by HarperCollins. He also received Emmy and Peabody nominations for his ASL series by the NBC network, "Speaking With Your Hands," as well as medals at various international film and television festivals.

Conceptually accurate and easy to understand

Since I have a Deaf daughter, I am sometimes asked to recommend a book to help interested persons learn sign language. Although any book can only be implimented to supplement good videos or working with a skilled signer, this one definitely will assist users in recalling signs or learning new ones.

The descriptive definition acts as a helpful word picture of the sign. The information also shows users the different English "words" one sign can represent, so they can be sure they are choosing conceptually-accurate signs to convey what they wish to communicate (think of the many uses of the word "run").

Helpful also - and often very necessary - is the use of more than one drawing to show the progression of the sign, clarifying the written explanation. And since expression is vital in signing, the facial drawings can provide nuances that are important for clear communication.

The American Sign Language Dictionary is one than can be depended on to show the correct ASL signs, instead of English-based ones that find their way into many sign language dictionaries. It's a great resource!

Husband tortured by watching his wife trun into a slut that makes bad life choices

I have to say it's a bit of an evil story.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for revenge tg stories were a bad person get whats coming to him. but the male lead in this is a good man who's only fault was having a wife that didn't love him enough. Honestly tho the story only make sense to me if the wife was cursed too. as her personality changes almost as fast as the male lead changes sex.

I read until the end knowing the man the wife picked to be the "daddy" for her new "little girl" could save the story for me. but again she lets the reader down by picking Someone the male lead not only hated but who the wife herself complained about.
