The result of hierarchical clustering is a tree-based representation of the objects called dendrogram. In this part, we describe how to compute, visualize, interpret and compare dendrograms. Part IV describes clustering validation and evaluation strategies, which consists of measuring the goodness of clustering results. Among the chapters covered here, there are: Assessing clustering tendency, Determining the optimal number of clusters, Cluster validation statistics, Choosing the best clustering algorithms and Computing p-value for hierarchical clustering. Part V presents advanced clustering methods, including: Hierarchical k-means clustering, Fuzzy clustering, Model-based clustering and Density-based clustering.

About the Author
Alboukadel Kassambara is a PhD in Bioinformatics and Cancer Biology. He works since many years on genomic data analysis and visualization. He created a bioinformatics tool named GenomicScape (www.genomicscape.com) which is an easy-to-use web tool for gene expression data analysis and visualization. He developed also a website called STHDA (Statistical Tools for High-throughput Data Analysis, www.sthda.com/english), which contains many tutorials on data analysis and visualization using R software and packages. He is the author of the R packages survminer (for analyzing and drawing survival curves), ggcorrplot (for drawing correlation matrix using ggplot2) and factoextra (to easily extract and visualize the results of multivariate analysis such PCA, CA, MCA and clustering). GREAT book on cluster analysis in R

This is a very practical guide to cluster analysis. The book is an extremely easy and straightforward read which I went through in all of a couple of hours. You will find that you can run every analysis in the book by following the clear, uncluttered programming code. The visualization examples are excellent, as are the discussions of diagnostics for the number of clusters and for assessing cluster tendency There were a couple of topics missing that might improve a second edition: (1) while a chapter on advanced methods covers model-based clustering for metric dependent variables, there is no corresponding coverage of the poLCA package for categorical supervising variables, (2) while the book covers agglomerative hierarchical clustering, it skips divisive hierarchical clustering, available in the package diana.

An easy trip through the countryside

I needed a short, easy book to read while on my vacation with my sister. She happened to have this book along and lent it to me. I found myself travelling through the countryside of Spain with Camilo Cela and loving it. He included just enough information to let us share his experience without drowning us in too much detail. I'll never have his exact memories but I felt like I could recognize the places and feelings if I ever get to go there. I recommend this as an enjoyable, easy read.

How a true human being travelled through Spain

Light and airy in style, filled with memorable scenes and characters, an engaging narrator, and plenty of information about daily life in backroads Spain 50 years ago. I see why this author deserved a Nobel prize. However, skip the introduction, a heavy handed piece of academic existentialist skulduggery that almost persuaded me not to read the book.

A classic of the Spanish Literature

El Viaje a la Alcarria or Journey to the Alcarria is one of the best books I ever read. Sometimes the reader gets tired of the third person perspective, but it is an interesting book to read after all. You find details about the life in the country side of Spain and you discover how the writter felt in those places after living in Madrid. A must read from the classic literature.

Informative, But VERY Short, Guide

This was a pretty well written book, considering it was self-published. I think I only spotted one or maybe two typos. (Which is really good compared to other books in the "make money online" niche. Most of them are downright horrible.)

While this guide DID contain a lot of great information, I would have liked a little bit more info about what happens AFTER you set up your accounts and streaming games.

How long will it take to make some decent money?

How much money CAN you make?

How do you make sure your business doesn't fail?

What should you do to market it?

These are all questions that went unanswered.

Unless the author is planning on a second book that answers some of these questions I don't know how entirely useful this first book would really be.

But, other than that one area I think this was an overall decent quality book.

It IS short (around 15 pages) but it's also just $0.99, and if you put the effort forth you can probably make that back within a day or so, if you apply what is taught within the book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is completely foreign to the idea of making money through streaming video games. If you're a little more advanced I think you would be best off looking elsewhere.

If you want to know how it's done, watch Koibu on Twitch.tv . He just started one day and then kept at it relentlessly, adding games and other streaming game-related entertainment. Today (Sept. 4, 2014) he has survived 6 weeks of competition for Intel's Next Top Streamer (intl.gg) - he was the relative newbie, the underdog among 19 other streamers, and he now faces the other lone remaining streamer, who has a huge following. Whether he wins this last round or not, Koibu is the model for engaging his fans and creating a variety of great shows.

A Beginner's Guide... If you know practically nothing about Twitch and Youtube, this "book" might work for you.

The book describes how to set up a Youtube and Twitch accounts and how to link them. Next, it describes what to do when you have an average Twitch viewership of 500. Haha, unfortunately it provides little or no info on how to build up to the 500 viewer level.

Meh, it was only 99 cents.

This book will be especially helpful for graduate students and early career professionals, but I suspect more senior scientists will enjoy reading it as well. I am going to highly recommend this book to my graduate students, and as a resource for graduate writing seminars in my department.

A Must Read for Aspiring Young Athletes and Weekend Warriors Like Me

The inner game is 90% of winning, and this book focuses on how to master your mindset and inner game in sports, and honestly for anything in life. Loren has taken her many years of success in coaching athletes on mindset to provide easy to understand and easy to implement strategies to shift limiting beliefs and overcome challenging sticking points which can often discourage an athlete, like fears, self doubt, and criticism. Every aspiring young athlete should read this book and apply the strategies.

I'm going to buy this book for both my godson's who are competitive athletes, and also apply this to my weekend volleyball matches.

A true master strategist for competition

Loren is a true master in her understanding of the key sticking points that take atheletes out of the game in up into their heads and in the powerful strategies to move them foward. She really gets the limiting beliefs, fears and even "circles" of self-talk that an athelete can start with or develop after a tough loss or coaching criticism. this understanding together with her compassion and great strategies made the different for a young competitive athelete I know, who said simply, "Loren just gets it". Following Loren's mindset techniques made a dramatic difference in her performance AND brought back the fun and love of the game. I am delighted to finally read this book and have all the strategies at my fingertips! my review...Fabulous!

I just received "The Winning Point" last week and I'm almost done reading it. It's definitely a book that I will read again and again. I recommend it to anyone who wants to move up in their sport.
